What Is the Jollibee Jolly Spaghetti Hack?

This has to be one of your childhood favorites! The Jolly Spaghetti from Jollibee is just as delicious and nostalgic as the crispy fried chicken, and we’re not surprised: the dish has everything we want in an indulgent kiddie spaghetti recipe.

What is amazing is that it’s not just for kids. Not everyone loves spaghetti but it’s undoubtedly the spaghetti the kid inside of us will love.

If you want to relive a childhood memory or two with a Jollibee-inspired spaghetti at home, we have good news for you: Francis Lim of Tipple and Slaw and Nav came up with a recipe close to that same spaghetti that you can replicate at home.

The result of his many recipe tests and trials is the recipe you will find below. You might be surprised to see a couple of ingredients in there, but they’re what Chef Francis discovered to be necessary for creating the iconic sauce that has captivated many kids — and kids at heart — for generations.

Such ingredients include liver spread and banana ketchup which aren’t exactly new to any spaghetti. But condensed milk? We, too, were surprised. So here it is. We don’t want you to stop patronizing the happy bee just yet, but here’s a chance for you to enjoy the spaghetti any time and anywhere.

How to Serve Jollibee Jolly Spaghetti Hack

Is there any other way to serve this popular fast food fare other than as is? Sure there are and one of the best ways of making this pasta meal even better is with something just as delicious:

Pair it with fried chicken: Thanks to fast food chains such as Jollibee, you can’t deny that spaghetti and fried chicken is now a favorite. It’s a genius pairing because the spaghetti acts as the rice, albeit a very tasty and saucy one, for the fried chicken ulam

Serve with garlic bread: What pasta isn’t made more hearty and satisfyingly filling when served with garlic bread? Make it buttery and cheesy to really make it an unforgettable pairing.

How To Cook Jollibee Jolly Spaghetti Hack

What makes this spaghetti recipe hack so homey is its ingredients. Each is an ingredient that you may already have in your kitchen! It starts off rather ordinarily with boiling dried spaghetti in a pot, and sautéing the garlic and onions in another pan followed by browning the meat and hot dogs.

This is the stage where things become interesting. The tomato sauce is added but so is a good amount of banana catsup. The sweetness and undoubtedly different taste of the banana catsup might be what makes this a sweet-style spaghetti.

But there’s more. Not only  does the banana catsup add sweetness with a hint of spiciness as well, but the sweetened condensed milk does, too. It also adds a little creaminess that you might not notice at all! A can of liver spread adds another dimension of meatiness and texture to the sauce that you just can’t pinpoint until you discover that it’s added.

All of these ingredients goes in the sauce and is what tops the mound of cooked spaghetti. The final ingredient is the grated cheese that is also just as important as the rest to complete this rendition of an iconic fast food meal.

Tips To Make the Best Tasting Jollibee Jolly Spaghetti Hack

1 Adjust the sweetness.

Not everyone has the same level of sweetness tolerance and it just so happens that these measurements are what Chef Francis believes is the right amount. You may think differently and that’s what makes this recipe so adaptable. Adjust the amount of sweetened condensed milk or the banana catsup to suit your taste, especially if you think it can use less (or more!) as dictated by your palate.

2 Use longganisa

Ground meat is not the only kind of meat that you can use in this recipe. For those who love the sweetness of hamonado-style longganisa, swap out the ground beef in this recipe for chopped-up longganisa to give this a different kind of sweetness that marries well with the overall sweetness of the sauce.

Jollibee Jolly Spaghetti Hack Storage Tips

1 Refrigerate the sauce and pasta separately.

Pasta with sauces are best stored in the refrigerator separately: the pasta in one container and the sauce in another. If the pasta and sauce are already tossed together, store this separately from any leftover pasta and leftover pasta sauce.

It’s best that combined pasta and sauce be consumed within three days for best results since pasta will spoil earlier than the sauce.

2 The pasta sauce can be frozen.

This will keep only if the sauce is kept separate from the pasta. When ready to toss with freshly cooked pasta, just reheat in the stove and serve as desired. Frozen pasta sauce in a sealed container can last weeks if necessary.
