Heads up, instant pancit canton fans! Your locally made Lucky Me! instant pancit canton are safe to eat!
These were the findings of the investigation of the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) when the agency looked into the possible contamination of the locally produced noodles with the pesticide ethylene oxide.
According to the results, the FDA found that their tests for ethylene oxide were not present in these variants, Pancit Canton Extra Hot Chili, Pancit Canton Regular, Pancit Canton Chilimansi, and Instant Mami Beef Regular, and declared safe for consumption.
However, ethylene oxide was detected in one variant, Lucky Me! Pancit Canton Kalamansi, but was found to be at a level that was below the European Union’s acceptable levels, meaning it too could be deemed safe to eat.
Here’s what the FDA has to say about their investigation into the ethylene oxide and pancit canton issue:

It should be noted that the variants in the original complaint were manufactured in Thailand and were not the Lucky Me! pancit canton made and produced in the Philippines.
